The long pending demand by people of Andhra Pradesh seems to be washed away after clarification Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba. He made it clear that there will not be any separate railway zone for state.

For quiet a long time now, there has been demand to make a separate railway zone for Andhra Pradesh with headquarters in Vishakhapatnam. Besides saying no to the demand he also asked state to look for an alternative for Duggirajupatnam to make new port.

This came as a surprise to many as even state unit of BJP was insisting Centre to grant a seperate railway zone for state.

Andhra Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has also assured his state several times that a railway zone would definitely be established, with its headquarters at Visakhapatnam.
