Title - Madhya Pradesh CM Chouhan lays foundation stone for first private sector rail engine factory at Sher

Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan laid the foundation stone for the first private sector railway engine manufacturing plant costing Rs. 300 crore at Sherpur in Sehore district near the state capital today.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that every possibility of industrial development and investment, which can accelerate pace of the state’s development and generate maximum job opportunities, are being explored in the state. As a result of this thinking and efforts of the State Government, Madhya Pradesh has touched new dimensions of economic and social development. The Chief Minister said that he had visualised to make Madhya Pradesh a developed state and this vision has come very close to be translated into reality. He said that sincere intention, transparent policies and sincere efforts for basic infrastructure development have played important role in these achievements.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the state will emerge in quite new look vis-à-vis economic development in the next four-five years. He informed that Madhya Pradesh has attracted investors of the country and abroad much during the last few years as a result of the state’s topographic location and a sensitive government, which is committed to public welfare. The Chief Minister said that the cabinet has sanctioned new industrial areas in Madhya Pradesh. Besides, funds have also been sanctioned to upgrade existing 11 industrial areas. He said the in the years to come, non-conventional and employment-oriented sectors will be promoted through G.I.S.

Wishing for the plant’s success, the Chief Minister said that it will be able to give a new identity of development to the state. He hoped that the plant will also play an important role in making jobs available to jobless youths of the area.

Industries Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya said that even industrial houses have lauded the conducive atmosphere generated for industries in the state for setting up of industries. This factory is a major gift in the series, which will provide direct employment to 1800 persons and make available livelihood means to 10 thousand families. He said that the fact that American industrialists are investing funds in Sehore goes to prove that a conducive atmosphere for industries prevails in the state.

At the outset, Daulatram Industries Managing Director Shri C.P. Sharma and Chairman of N.R.E.C, USA Shri Steven Lauren Bell gave information about the plant. An MoU was signed by the company at Khajuraho Summit-2 on October 23, 2010 for manufacturing diesel and electrical locomotives and spare parts at Sherpur in Sehore district. Unit’s project cost is Rs. 210 crore including Rs. 151.45 crore permanent investment and Rs. 58.55 crore working capital. The plant proposes to provide direct and indirect employment to 1800 persons.

It is noteworthy that so far diesel locomotive engines are manufactured in India in the government sector plants at Chitranjan and Varanasi. The plant proposed to be set up in Sehore district is the first diesel locomotive manufacture plant in the private sector where diesel rail engines will be manufactured through latest American technique. The engines manufactured here will consume 40 percent less diesel with less carbon emissions.

Ashta MLA Shri Ranjit Singh Gunwan, Zila Panchayat Chairman Shri Dharmendra Singh Chauhan, Nagar Palika Chairman Shri Naresh Mewada, Chief Secretary Shri R. Parasuram, Commissioner Bhopal division Shri Praveen Garg and large number of people were present on the occasion.
