Title - FORMER EMPLOYEES FELICITATED BY SER AS A PART OF SILVER JUBLIEE CELEBRATIONS OF PRS

Kolkata, 6th October, 2012:-
As many as 18 former employees of Computerized Reservation Office of S.E.Railway were felicitated in a function held at B.C.Roy Auditorium , Sealdah on 05.10.2012 as a part of week long celebrations of the completion of 25 years of Computerised Passenger Reservation System of S.E.Railway.

The 18 former employees included Shri Prasenjit Sengupta who issued the first ever computerized ticket from Kolkata PRS in 1987.
Shri J.N.Jha, Chief Commercial Manager, while felicitating the old railway employees said that success of PRS had been possible with dedicated services of this workforce. It wasa difficult task for booking clerks to shift from the manual ticket to the PRS as the two systems were quite different. Shri Jha also said that the computerized passenger Reservation System presently in Indian Railways is vast and uniquein the world.

Shri P.K. Banerjee, Controller of Stores, Shri Ranjan Tiwari, FA&CAO, Ms. Papiya Lahiri,Sr.Dy. General Manager, Smt. Jaya Verma Sinha, CCM(C &PS), Shri S.K. Das, DRM, Sealdah and other senior Railway Officers and a large number of staff were present at the celebration.

During thisfelicitation ceremony, a colourful cultural programme was organized which included songs, dance items and a play.
The main objective of having this week long Silver Jubilee Celebrations was to celebrate and share the benefits that PRS has brought about in the last 25 years and to make people aware of how PRS has expanded to reach out to people at large through Computerized Passenger Reservation Centres, Internet Bookings, UTS, ATVMs, SMS booking etc.
