Title - First Mumbai AC local train ferried 10 lakh commuters in less than 5 months

December 25, 2017 was the date when Mumbai got its first AC local train. Almost 5 months done and already more than 10 lakh commuters opted AC local train to commute. However, AC local still not popular and a preferred mode of transport among Western Railway (WR) commuters.

According to Western Railway, these trains run with far lesser capacity than they are designed for. Average number of commuters has remained 1,500 for these trains against its carrying capacity of 5,000.

To overcome this problem, Western Railway is planning to attach AC coaches to local trains from October.
