Title - ECoR penalises 14,000 persons

The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has penalised 14,285 persons for littering, spitting or dumping garbage at the railway premises and realised a fine of `9.42 lakh.

Any person found littering, spitting, urinating or defecating, pasting posters or dumping garbage o­n railway premises is liable for penalty under Indian Railways (Penalties for Activities Affecting Cleanliness at Railway Premises) Rules 2012. In all the three divisions __ Khurda Road, Sambalpur and Waltair __ Station Masters, Ticket Collectors, Special Squad, RPF and other railway officials have been authorised to conduct anti-litter checks and penalise the offenders. During June, as many as 2,380 persons (1,457 persons in Khurda Road, 200 persons in Sambalpur and 723 persons in Visakhapatnam) were penalised and `1,57,420 realised for violating the guidelines o­n cleanliness.
