Union minister of state for railways, Bharatsinh Solanki on Tuesday said that UPA government has given more to Gujarat than the BJP-led NDA government.

“Under NDA rule from 1999 to 2004, railway budget earmarked Rs1,974 crore for Gujarat, which rose to Rs2,491 crore under UPA-I government from 2004 to 2009. Between 2009 and 2012, UPA-II government has allocated Rs5,156 crore to the state. There is no truth in allegations that Gujarat is being discriminated against by the Centre,” said Solanki at Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Bhavan.

Solanki criticised the BJP leaders for trying to mislead people through false claims about injustice to Gujarat by the railway ministry. “It is a sign of desperation of Gujarat BJP ahead of upcoming assembly elections,” alleged the union minister. He also said that the railway fares in Gujarat were lower than ST fares.
