Minister of State for Railways K.H. Muniyappa digitally flagged off the tri-weekly Yeshwantpur–Miraj–Yeshwantpur (Nos.06517/06516) train at Belgaum Railway Station here on Tuesday.The train was simultaneously flagged off by Minister of State for Coal Pratik Prakashbapu Patil at Miraj.Mr. Muniyappa said that work would begin on laying tracks from Karad to Dharwad via Kolhapur and Belgaum, and Kudachi to Bagalkot. He said that the demand to extend the Mysore-Dharwad Express up to Belgaum would soon be considered.Mr. Muniyappa acknowledged the efforts of the former Minister Prakash B. Hukkeri in getting the Yeshwantpur–Miraj–Yeshwantpur train sanctioned.Appreciating the good work done by the Hubli and Miraj divisions, Mr. Muniyappa announced cash awards of Rs. 2 lakh and Rs. 1 lakh respectively.Agriculture Minister and Belgaum district in-charge Umesh V. Katti thanked Mr. Muniyappa for flagging off the train. |
