MYSORE: Two railway employees helped an ailing elderly woman -- whom they had found on Mysore City railway platform - by reuniting her with her family on Monday.

About 25 days ago, chief train clerk Ramesh M C and trackman Arun had found the woman on platform No. 5 with none attending to her. Ramesh said he was moved on seeing her plight. "She could not take care of herself, and her eyes welled with tears." She was later given a bath with the help of women staff. The woman was admitted to KR Hospital as she had fractured her right leg, and a caretaker was appointed to look after her. "We did not know anything about her. But after some days, she identified herself as Sarojamma," Ramesh said.

When this correspondent asked Sarojamma about her address, she said in Kannada: "My house in IV Cross of Govindapura in Bangalore." On being asked whether she will be happy to go there, Sarojamma just smiled.

On Monday, the staff took her to Bangalore in Mysore-Yeshwanthpur train, and found the place in the evening. Ramesh said: "Saroramma's daughter, who was there, was happy on seeing her after weeks. Theirs is a poor family, and we left the place with a heavy heart." The daughter, who is crippled by polio, cried when the staff left.

Banglore divisional commercial manager Raghuram helped them locate the house.
