Rajahmundry: Union minister of state for railways K. Suryaprakash Reddy will inaugurate the railway flyover near ILTD on December 15.

The Rajahmundry MLA, Routhu Suryaprakasa Rao, said here on Thursday that the Union minister for railways was scheduled to visit East Godavari to take part in local programmes.

Accordingly, the minister will arrive to the city on Saturday and inspect the Havelock bridge across the Godavari river and later inaugurate the flyover.

The minister will also inspect the progress of construction of fourth platform at the local railway station.

Later, he will proceed to Anaparthy to take part in local programmes. The MLC, Kandula Durgesh and Suryaprakasa Rao, along with civic officials inspected the Havelock bridge. Rao said that the railway authorities in principle accepted the proposal to handover the bridge to the Rajahmundry municipal corporation and assured efforts to develop the bridge as a tourist attraction with the support from both the Centre and state governments.

Kandula Durgesh laid stress for developing the bridge.
