Train services on Sealdah-Lakshmikantapur-Namkhana section of Eastern Railway's Sealdah (South) Division were again disrupted since early morning today as banana leaves were thrown on overhead wire initially at Mathurapur, Nischindapur and Jaynagar-Majilpur stations today. Banana leaves were first thrown on overhead wire at Mathurapur station at 6.15 hours and then at Nischindapur at 6.50 hours, railway sleepers were also placed on railway track at Jaynagar-Majilpur station.

All the banana leaves were removed by tower vans. Sleepers were also removed from railway tracks and train services resumed at 10.55 hours. But efforts were all in vain as the banana leaves were again thrown on overhead wire at Hogla and Jaynagar-Majilpur stations at 11.05 hours affecting the train services between Baruipur and Lakshmikantapur. Normal train services resumed at 16.50 hours when all the banana leaves were removed from overhead wire. Consequently, a total of 19 EMU trains had been cancelled.
