Train services in Eastern Railway’s Howrah division were disrupted on Tuesday following a derailment and overturning of 15 rear wagons of a goods train loaded with coal on Bandel–Burdwan railway section.Keen not to disrupt the flow of the crowd on Christmas Day, the Railways took some prompt action, pressing cranes to work to clear the spill and free the tracks.The goods train, which overturned between Debipur and Boinchi stations, was coming from Paradip.About 150 metres of the up line and about 200 metres of the down line have been seriously damaged due to the derailment, says a Press release by Eastern Railway.Railway authorities reached the site by a special train and started the restoration work.While some long-distance trains were being diverted, the authorities had to cancel some trains as well.
