Title - Tight vigil ahead of Republic Day

The police here have strengthened vigil across the district by intensifying patrolling in sensitive localities and checking the movement of incoming vehicles from across the border ahead of the Republic Day on Saturday.The police have taken full control of the municipal stadium grounds at Vidyanagar locality, where the Republic Day parade will be held on Saturday.

Inspection of vehicles:The police also started inspecting incoming vehicles from other States on a random basis.Special picketing would be put in place from Friday onwards, official sources said here on Friday.Special vigil would be maintained by the police in trains, railway stations, bus stations, and other strategic centres.

Ensuring safety:This is to ensure that no untoward incident took place in the district on the day.State Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar would take salute from various police and other security contingents, official sources said.
