Title - The Hindu : Cities / Visakhapatnam : GVMC to pay Rs.2 crore to Railways

GVMC will pay soon Rs.2 crore for taking up construction of compound wall at the DRM’s Office. The demolition of the old wall and construction of new wall is required for taking up work on the service roads near the DRM’s Office as a part of the Asilmetta flyover. The Rs.2 crore is part of the Rs.10 crore corporation had to pay towards structural compensation to the Railways. Earlier, the corporation paid Rs.11 lakh towards design work.

Municipal Commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana on Thursday met Divisional Railway Manager Anil Kumar and discussed the bottlenecks in the flyover work and other issues related to Sevanagar and Omkarnagar. The two slums were vacated to hand over the land to the Railways.

An official statement said the DRM had assured to work in coordination with the GVMC to improve amenities in the city.
