Title - Special training programme for Rapid Metrorail recruits

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation will start a special training programme beginning Monday for the first batch of 30 recruits of the Rapid Metrorail Gurgaon Limited, which is likely to start operations by April next year. The candidates will undergo training at the Delhi Metro’s Training Institute in Shastri Park here.

The batch comprising station controllers/train operators will be imparted 17 weeks of intensive training at the institute where they will get first-hand experience of the functioning and working of the various metro system. The Delhi Metro has designed special training modules to suit their requirements.

As part of their training, the candidates will be given exposure to the latest technology like the Siemens signalling system, emergency systems, rolling stock, station operation and management, and other aspects. They will also undergo ‘simulator’ training in which they will learn how to start the train, pick up acceleration, decelerating, braking, door opening and closing, communication within the train, handling emergency situations and passenger evacuation and man-machine interaction within the train operator’s cab.The institute has already trained around 300 staff and executives from other metros like Bangalore, Kochi, Chennai and Jaipur.

The 6.1 km-long Rapid Metrorail will connect Sikanderpur metro station of Delhi Metro with Cyber City and National Highway-8 in Gurgaon. This RMGL link will provide a feeder line to Delhi Metro and serve commuters travelling to Cyber City/ NH-8 from Delhi or other parts of Gurgaon.
