Title - Southern Railway has new GM in Rakesh Misra

MANGALORE: RakeshMisra taken charge as general manager, Southern Railway on January 16. Aged 18 years, Misra was selected by UPSC as a special class railway apprentice through an all India competitive examination. On completion of his training at Indian Railway Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Jamalpur, Misra joined Central Railway in 1977. In his service, Misra has worked in various important posts across India.His assignments include executive director in railway research, chief design engineer in ICF and divisional railway manager, Malda, Eastern Railway. In 2008, he was selected for prestigious diplomatic assignment and held post of railway advisor in Berlin for over 4 years. He has undergone training in aspects of railway working in UK, USA, Japan and Germany. He has visited many other countries such as Russia, Brazil, and South Africa.
