Title - SCR HOLDS 68th Zonal Rail Users’ Consultative Committee Meeting (ZRUCC)

The 68th Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) Meeting was held under the chairmanship of Shri G. N. Asthana, General Manager, South Central Railway today (11.01.2013) at Railway Officers Club, Secunderabad. Principal Heads of Various departments of SCR were present. Thirty six ZRUCC Members including Shri Mohd. Ali Khan and Madhu Yashki, Hon’ble Members of Parliament, representing diverse interests such as Legislature, SCR Divisions, Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Agricultural Associations, Public Sector Units, Registered Passengers’ Association, Consumer Protection Associations, nominees of Union Ministers etc., participated in the discussions. The members were apprised of the performance of SCR and developmental works under progress through a power point presentation.In his presidential address, Shri Asthana said that South Central Railway Standsamong the best performing Zonal Railways of our country. After a remarkable performance last year, SCR’sperformance during the current financial year has also been promising, At Present, SCR carries around o­ne million passengers per day andpoised to achieve the target of 111 million tonnes of freight loading during the current financial year. In the last Railway Budget, 16 originating trains and 10 passenger trains were announced, out of which 17 trains have already been introduced. In addition, SCR operates special trains regularly and presently a large number of Sabarimalai specials and Sankranthi specials are being run. Adarsh Station works at 31 stations have been completed and works are under progress at 19 more stations, he added. He assured the ZRUCC members that their suggestions and views expressed during the meeting will be given due consideration while formulating plans for improving amenities and services.
The members appreciated the efforts of SCR and its positive response for various suggestions for service improvement. They also lauded SCR for bagging Govind Vallab Pant Shield-2012 for overall efficiency and six other awards at all India level. Deliberations o­n various suggestions brought forth by the ZRUCC Members towards Service improvement were held in a cordial manner. The suggestions from various members include improvement in catering /watering / lighting facilities at Railway Stations; improving the cleanliness at stations and trains; opening of more number of booking counters; raising of platforms; augmentation of trains by additional coaches; provision of additional stoppages; introduction of new trains; extension of certain trains; construction of ROBs/RUBs; provision of Lifts / Escalators at various stations; enhancing security o­n trains especially for women passengers; banning the entry of vendors into women coaches; starting the MMTS Phase-II works; quick transport facility at concessional rate for perishable commodities such as fruits and vegetables etc.
Shri Neelakanta Reddy, Deputy General Manager (General), SCR, and Secretary, ZRUCC convened the meeting.
