Trains crossing Dindigul railway station from southern districts were delayed for a few hours owing to a quarrel between Andhra Pradesh police and a travelling ticket examiner (TTE) on the Chennai bound Nellai Chennai Express train that reached Dindigul late last night. When TTE Annamalai checked the tickets of passengers, three Andhra Pradesh Police personnel reportedly refused to cooperate. They also reportedly attacked the TTE.Later, all TTEs in the express train congregated at Dindgul railway station demanding protection for their lives and immediate action against persons behind the attack. Railway officials stopped Podhigai Express at Ambathurai railway station and all trains coming behind Nellai Express were stopped at different stations.Later, Railway police made inquiries with the three persons – Narasimha (27) Prabakar (40) and Narayanan (29) – and found that they were police personnel from Andhra Pradesh and had come to Madurai for investigating a case. All the three had tickets and necessary warrants with them. |
