Title - Railways planning to tie up with Biennale

Kochi: Southern Railways was proposing to tie up with the ongoing Kochi Muziris Biennale for enhancing the architecture and ambience of three major railways stations in Kerala, a top railway official Friday said.

Initial discussions have been held with the Kochi Biennale Foundation, the organisers of the Biennale, Thiruvananthapuram divisional Manager, Rajesh Agrawal, told PTI.

The railways has plans to tie up with the KBF for Ernakulam junction station, which can be taken up as a pilot project, and the stations at --Alapuzha, considered the 'Venice of the East' and Thiruvananthapuram, which is to be upgraded as world class station. There are also plans to include some smaller and wayside stations like Tripunithura or Kumbalam in the tie up, he said.

He said adding he was hoping that the agreement comes through as early as possible and works taken up soon.

The state government had not had any discussion with the Railways or the Thiruvananthapuram division with regard to the proposed High speed corridor. It would need millions of passengers daily for the rs 1.20 lakh crore project to become feasible, he said.
