Title - Railway reservation counter opened

A computerised railway reservation counter was opened at the District Collectorate here on Monday.A good number of passengers here can now avoid going all the way to the railway station near the Thalangara locality, at one end of the town, to reserve or cancel tickets. The new counter will be open from 10 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. on working days.P. Karunakaran, MP, inaugurated the counter. N.A. Nellikunnu, P.B. Abdul Razak and E. Chandrasekharan, MLAs, and district panchayat president P.P. Shyamala Devi were present.Speaking at the function, Piyush Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager, Palakkad, promised to take up the demand for a stop for Rajdhani Express here.He said providing more coaches to the Mangalore-Kannur passenger train would be considered, while steps would be taken to upgrade facilities at the station here and those in Kumbla, Neeleswaram and Cheruvathur in the district.
