Bhopal: To the despair of commuters, two Biometric palm impression based token vending machines at Bhopal Junction were ‘out of service’ for the second consecutive day on Tuesday. Technical glitches were reportedly the cause behind the faulty token vending machines that left hundreds of passengers standing in long queues outside reservation counters in the station.

Notably, the First Biometric palm impression based token system was installed in the Bhopal railway station in 2012 with an aim to check black marketing of reserved tickets in the division.

Sources in the railway said that ticket booking agents could have damaged the Biometric palm impression based vending machines as it is ruining their business. They also want to get the vending machines removed from the station, added the sources.

Notably, the income of Bhopal railway division increased by as much as 40 per cent in the year 2012 as against that of 2011.
