Title - No unmanned level crossing by 2014-2015

South Eastern Railway (SER) has drawn out plans to eliminate all 829 unmanned level crossings within its jurisdiction by the end of 2014-15.
    In a recent meeting, SER general manager A K Verma laid emphasis on phasing out of the unmanned level crossings. This will be achieved through manning, construction of limited height subways (LHS), diversions, Road over Bridges and closure.
    “There are 1,382 level crossing gates of which 552 are manned. It has been planned that 97 unmanned level crossing gates will be eliminated in 2012-13. In 2013-14, we plan to get rid of 342 unmanned level crossing gates. The remaining will be eliminated in 2014-15,” an official said
