Doubts are being raised whether the Jaipur Metro Project ‘A’ (Mansarovar-Chandpole stretch), would get completed by June 2013, the scheduled deadline. However, the Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) has started preparations for the project ‘B’ in which the Metro trains would run from Chandpole to Bari Chaupar. The top officials of the corporation held a meeting with Asian Development Bank (ADB) over financing the project B. The corporation has demanded a loan of Rs969 crore from the bank to complete the project.Sources said that the ADB has agreed to examine the JMRC’s proposal. But, its officials sought detailed information of the project to examine the pros and cons before approving the loan. They enquired the JMRC officials over the land-acquisition issue, which has already delayed the project ‘A’. The project ‘A’ (Mansarovar-Chandpole stretch) is progressing at snail’s pace. Many civil works are pending at Sindhi Camp bus stand site. Therefore, it is unlikely that concrete work would start soon for the project B. However, the state government has directed the JMRC to schedule its foundation ceremony in June or July in the coming year. The detailed project report (DPR) for the project has not been approved by the Central government yet. The DPR says that the entire project (A and B) would cost Rs3,018 crore. Published Date:  Dec 11, 2012
