Despite the fact that a few hundred people use the Lalaguda new bridge bus stop every day, it continues to be without any safe shelter. Irrespective of the adverse weather conditions people can be seen standing under the open sky and waiting for the buses.People from the Lalaguda railway quarters, Tukarram gate and surrounding residential areas descend at the bus stop since morning to catch a bus to their destination. The commuters from Lalaguda railway station also use it in large numbers. But with no shelter around most of them are forced to stand in the sun. It is a common sight with women carrying children in one arm and covering their heads with another. Schoolchildren are no exception. They sit on the compound wall of an adjacent open land until their bus arrives.Buses bound for destinations like Malkajgiri, Anand Bagh, Safilguda, Lalapet, Moula Ali and ECIL stop halt here to pick commuters. It also sees railway passengers bound for areas around Tarnaka and Lalapet.“All the passengers are forced to stand and wait until the bus arrives, a few just sit on the pavements,” informs Padma G, a student.Commuters feel the authorities are meting out injustice to them. “Authorities provide bus shelters in posh areas and forget their duty in other localities,” feels Raghavendra Rao, a senior citizen. |
