Title - Huge crowds despite special buses, trains
Posted by : greatindian on Jan 14, 2013 - 03:00:34 AM

All the bus and railway stations in the twin cities are teeming with thousands of people who are eager to visit their hometowns for Sankranti but are unable to get any mode of transport.

The situation has been the same for the past two days and the people, who are suffering the most, are lakhs of costal Andhra people living in the twin cities.

Long queues are seen before the ticket counters at the Secunderabd and Nampally railway stations, and the Mahatma Gandhi and Jubilee Bus Stations but they stand little chance of getting tickets as all long- distance buses and trains have been booked well in advance and are full to their capacities. As the unreserved train coaches, they are overcrowded and getting into them is well-nigh impossible.

People are, naturally, turning their ire towards the state government accusing it of lack of foresight and planning. Though the RTC is operating about 4,410 special buses and the South Central Railway  over 70 special trains to clear the rush from Hyderabad city, the bus and railway stations are still overcrowded with people waiting to get tickets. Though tickets are not available, thousands of passengers flocked the railway and bus stations on Saturday in the hope of getting somehow into unreserved coaches.
