ALLAHABAD: The railway administration has geared up to face the foggy weather conditions and has launched helpline numbers for passengers to give latest updates on the movement of trains. Since numerous trains are getting late from five to 15 hours, railways has launched helpline numbers to give latest update about the position of the trains.For Allahabad, the helpline number is 2408149. For Jhansi, the number is (0510)-2440787 while for Agra, it is (0562)-1072. Passengers can also get the updates about trains by logging on the website www.trainenquiry.comIn addition to this, the railway administration has also taken various steps for ensuring safety of the passengers during the foggy weather. Train pilots/assistant loco pilots drivers and assistant drivers of the zone are being trained regularly. During foggy weather, automatic signaling system is being converted into modified semi-automatic signalling system, under which, only two trains would be allowed between two stations unlike the automatic signalling system where several trains remain between two stations.Several pamphlets and posters have been published and placed in the drivers' lobby, assistant station master's room, electric loco shed, diesel loco shed and other places and drivers and their assistants are being reminded of precautions through the material.

The loco inspectors are also present in the crew lobby to guide drivers and assistant drivers. Talking to TOI, Sandeep Mathur chief public relations officer of North Central Railway said "Safety of passengers is of paramount importance in the current situation of foggy weather. We have also issued helpline numbers to provide information about the latest position of the trains. Further, people can also get information by logging on to the website www.trainenquiry.com and www.events.trainenquiry.com/fog for latest information about trains delayed by fog. Further, instructions have been issued for providing food to passengers in Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express. Despite efforts by the railway administration, movement of trains continue to get delayed. Trains are getting delayed by 10 to 18 hours due to which passengers face acute problems at the station. Train number 12561 Swantaranta Senani was running late by about 13 hours on Thursday while train number 13111 Lal Quila Express is running late by about 6 hours. Train number 14084 mahananda Express was running late by about 21 hours while train number 13008 Toofan Express was delayed by about 18 hours. Train number 12815 Nandan Kanan Express was delayed by about 11 hours while train number 12307 Howrah Jodhpur Express was delayed by about 5 hours.

Train number 12506 North east Express was running late by about 8 hours while train number 12312 Kalka Mail was delayed by about 6 hours.
