Title - Final round win gives Ratnakaran the title

Southern Railway’s K. Ratnakaran, the second-seeded IM, won the first ACE International FIDE-rated chess tournament at Town Hall here on Friday.Ratnakaran was in second spot after the penultimate round, but a victory in the final round and overnight leader K. Dinesh Sharma’s draw with D.P. Singh handed him the title.Ratnakaran and Dinesh Sharma finished level on 8.5 points after the 10-round event, but the former won the title with a superior tie-break score.
The results (last round) : D.P. Singh drew with K. Dinesh Sharma; K. Ratnakaran bt M. Kunal; Himanshu Sharma lost to S. Nitin; S.R. Harikrishna lost to P. Shyam Nikhil; N. Surendran lost to Siva Mahadevan; O.T. Anilkumar bt M. Chakravarthi Reddy; Arjun Satheesh drew with N. Lokesh; M.A. Joy Lazar bt S. Anjana Krishna; S. Anand Raj bt G.S. Sreejith; U.C. Mohanan drew with C.S. Unni.
