KANPUR: The derailed train engine which got stuck at Juhi overbridge and partially hung in the air was finally put back on the tracks by a large crane called in for the purpose around midnight on Sunday.Senior railway officials and technical staff were present during the operation which involved supporting the engine from below to help the crane in lifting it up. Train traffic on the third and the fourth lines (tracks) had to be suspended for sometime. Though the engine was lifted up safely, the damaged caused to the tracks and the sleepers during the accident initially prevented movement of the engine to the loco shed. The tracks were later repaired after which the engine was taken to the loco shed.It is worth mentioning here that the train engine had gone past the dead end railing on Saturday evening after which a portion of the engine hung in the air. This led to panic among the locals and commuters after which traffic movement was suspended. The movement of vehicles underneath the Juhi overbridge was restored on Monday. The senior railway authorities on the other hand have constituted a three-member committee to conduct a probe into the incident. The engine driver Gauri Shanker and co-driver Ranjeet Kumar have already been suspended. Their statements were recorded by the railway officials on Monday.
