Title - Decision on rail wheels factory decried

A strong demand was made to establish the rail wheels factory, being funded by the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant in Visakhapatnam instead of at Raebareli, at a dharna organised by the opposition parties in front of the Collectorate here on Wednesday.CPI (M), CPI, Telugu Desam, YSR Congress and Lok Satta participated in the dharna. They strongly criticised the VSP for entering into an agreement with the railways to establish the factory at Raebareli, the constituency of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi instead of Visakhapatnam, an industrially-growing city and where there is a lot of unemployment. People of north coastal Andhra districts would also be affected, they said.CPI (M) district secretary Ch. Narasinga Rao, CPI’s assistant district secretary B. Venkata Rao, president of TDP’s urban unit Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar, P. Diwakar of YSRC and K. Suresh of Lok Satta spoke against the decision to establish the factory in Uttar Pradesh and demanded the agreement cancelled.
