Title - Cracked rail track replaced

The Railways has replaced the rail line, near the Kanjiramattom Railway Station on the Ernakulam-Kottayam route, where a crack was detected on Sunday. The Kottayam-Ernakulam passenger train was stopped before it reached the damaged track by the timely intervention of a passer-by who waved a red cloth.Ernakulam Area Manager of Southern Railway P.L. Asok Kumar said the crack did not appear to be a fresh one. “The portion had already been clamped and such cracks are often found on the track in the December-January season, when the temperature dips. Passengers often hear a hitting sound when trains pass over such cracks,” he said.
