The Kerala High Court has criticised Railways for showing total indifference towards maintaining passenger coaches in good condition in the State. A Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice P.R. Ramachandra Menon, made the oral observation when a writ petition filed by the All India Lawyers’ Union State committee, seeking an inquiry into the recent breaking apart of a moving coach at the Alappuzha station, came up for hearing.Counsel for Railways explained the steps taken for ensuring safety and keeping the coaches in good condition. When counsel sought an adjournment of the hearing to enable the Additional Solicitor General from New Delhi to appear in the case, the court said in a lighter vein that he could be asked to come by train to realise the condition of Railways. | ||
