New Delhi, Dec 26 (IANS) It was a chilly Wednesday morning in Delhi with the minimum temperature settling at 7.8 degrees Celsius, average for the season. The Met Office has forecast a clear day ahead.
"The skies would be clear during the day. It is expected to be chilly towards the evening," an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official told IANS.
After reeling under foggy weather conditions for days, there was some respite for commuters early Wednesday as the visibility recorded at 8:30 a.m. was 1,200 metres in the city, the official said.
However, according to Northern Railway, a thick fog cover in north India has thrown train schedules out of gear.
"Over 59 trains are running behind schedule and six trains have been cancelled. The train services were severely hit today (Wednesday) owing to the dense fog in many parts of north India," a Northern Railway statement said.
Wednesday's maximum temperature in the city is expected to hover around 18 degrees Celsius.
Humidity at 8:30 a.m. was 89 percent.
On Tuesday, the minimum and maximum temperatures were recorded at seven and 16.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The Met department said the coldest day of the season was Dec 23 when the minimum temperature in the capital dropped to 5.9 degrees Celsius.
