PATIALA: Security has been stepped up in various railway stations across Punjab ahead of Republic Day.IG Railways Rohit Chaudhary said today that extra security was being provided to railway stations at Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Bathinda.Orders to conduct checks at railway bridges, railway line and all railway stations of the state have been given, he added.The IG stated that this is being done ahead of the Republic Day to ensure security in the state.Apart from providing extra security at the above stated four railway stations, CCTV cameras will also be installed at these railway stations to monitor them. All railway police station in-charges have been asked to check the belongings of all passengers at the railway stations till January 26. Security at all railway lines and railway over bridges has also been stepped up. The IG is also making efforts to provide better public communication to people who come to railway police stations. Officials who have been posted to the public communication are those who have already provided such facilities to the people and have helped the security system to ensure better security cover. Instructions on providing better facilities to people who come to police stations at railway stations have been given to public communication officers. IG Chaudhary stated that he has given promotion to about 15 officials who have done well and has given C-1 certificate to about 25 people. He has also suspended about eight officials who have shown carelessness in their work. | ||
