As compared to 3.49 crore passengers last year, 3.56 crore passengers have travelled in trains in the Mysore division of South Western Railway (SWR) so far during the current financial year.This rise in the number of passengers has led to an increase in earnings. Passenger earnings are at Rs. 101.75 crore so far, an increase of 5.11 per cent over the figure during the same time last year.The division registered Rs. 6.46 crore under ‘other coaching earnings’ and sundries of Rs. 10.15 crore. The overall earnings of the division are Rs. 375.53 crore so far, according to Vinod Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager, Mysore division, SWR.In his address at the 20th Divisional Railway Users’ Consultative Committee meeting here on Tuesday, he said the division had achieved monthly loading of 6.04 lakh tonnes and 9,376 wagons (daily average of 313 wagons) in November this year, compared to the 6 lakh tonnes in the same period last year — an improvement of 0.5 per cent.The cumulative loading up to November this year was 4.75 million tonnes, compared to 3.96 million tonnes during the same period last year, showing an improvement of 20 per cent, he said.As on December 18, eight exclusive passenger reservation system (PRS) centres, 32 PRS-cum-unreserved ticketing system centres and 76 unreserved ticketing system locations were functioning in the division. Besides, 21 Janasadharan ticket booking sewaks had been authorised to issue tickets at stations in the division. The process of appointing another 23 Janasadharan ticket booking sewaks is under way. This will help in improving dispensation of unreserved tickets,” he added. |
