Title - : Central Railway’s Harbour Line services hit

MUMBAI, DEC 4:  Eleven passengers of a local train from Andheri to Mumbai CST on Central Railway’s Harbour Line suffered burn injuries as a malfunctioning transformer in the second coach resulted in leakage of transformer oil. 

Of these, three have suffered serious injuries, seven simple injuries and the remaining one a trivial injury, said a statement from Central Railway. The injured were admitted to Sir JJ Hospital and St George Hospital.

An ex-gratia of Rs 25,000 is being given to the seriously injured and Rs 5,000 to those with simple injuries.

The local train halted for 20 minutes at Dockyard Road Railway Station between 11.20 a.m. and 11.40 a.m. due to brake binding delaying suburban services on the harbour line.

Brake binding occurs when the brake gets bound to the wheel on application and does not release immediately. It is also called brake seizure.
