Title - Crowd control measures taken by Railway during festive season

Indian Railway Ministry had issued notifications regarding crowd control at railway stations during Holi Festival. During Holi Railway witness unprecedented increase in travellers which impose a big problem for railways as sometimes situation goes out of control. The eight point notification issued by railway is –

  • Special deployment of Commercial and Security personnel.
  • Divisional Railway Managers can increase rate of platform tickets above 10 rupees to decongest platform.
  • Close Circuit Television Surveillance System, Access Control Mechanism are used to regulate and monitor the crowd at major railway stations.
  • At important stations/cities for the convenience of passengers railway has provided E-ticket booking system, automatic ticket vending machines, City Booking office, mobile app etc.
  • Traffic regulations are implemented in coordination with Traffic/Local Police.
  • Separate entry and exit points are made at stations manned by railway commercial department to facilitate easy ingress and egress of passengers.
  • Queue system is maintained for hassle free boarding of passengers in general coaches of important trains.
  • Parking and non-parking areas have clearly been demarcated to avoid haphazard parking and overcrowding.
