Title - Train to Vaishno Devi

Travel to the Vaishno Devi shrine will get much easier when train services up to Katra, the shrine’s base camp, are started from July. Work on the 25 km Uddhampur-Katra rail link is almost complete. Once this happens, pilgrims need no longer break journey at Jammu. Katra station is ready with three platforms, with two more coming up later. The Udhampur-Katra rail route, coming up at an estimated cost of Rs. 960 crore, passes through inhospitable terrain, making it an extremely challenging engineering project. The route has seven tunnels and 30 small and big bridges. — PTI
