Subodh Jain, General Manager of Central Railway, has assured a delegation from the Hyderabad Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industries (HKCCI) that the triweekly superfast Solapur–Yeshwantpur Express, would be made a daily train from the next financial year.HKCCI president Umakant Nigudgi and secretary Basawaraj Hadgil, in a statement issued here on Sunday, said that Mr. Jain made the assurance during his inspection of the Gulbarga Railway Station on Saturday.Regarding another demand to extend the Dharwad–Solapur Passenger Train (no. 56903/56904) up to Wadi in Gulbarga district, Mr. Jain, along with A.K. Prasad, Divisional Railway Manager of the Solapur Division and Sushil Gaikwad, senior divisional commercial manager, said directions would be issued in this regard immediately. Mr. Jain had promised to create an island platform in Wadi Junction. The island platform would allow trains originating from different destinations in North India to pass through the Wadi Outer Line without stopping at Wadi Junction. Mr. Nigudgi said that the delegation had pleaded for the implementation of the Sareen Committee’s recommendations to establish a divisional headquarters in Gulbarga. The delegation also wanted a goods shed to be constructed at the Gulbarga Railway Station as the existing one could not accommodate the large stocks of goods that arrived at the station.
