Title - : Southern Railway official arrested on graft charges

The Anti-Corruption Bureau of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) late on Wednesday night trapped and arrested R. Manivasagam (53), Divisional Engineer (West) of Southern Railway — Salem Division, while allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe from an electrical contractor.According to the police, the official had demanded Rs.25,000 as bribe for clearing a pending bill of Rs.11.44 lakh and renewing the contract period of Satish Kumar, an electrical contractor.Based on a complaint, a trap was laid and the official was apprehended.A preliminary case has been registered against him under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
