Sources said a preliminary assessment of the accident by the Railway Board indicated that the Rajrani Express, which ran over the devotees, was not issued a "look-out" or caution signal while passing the station, which would have involved the driver decelerating the train to 15-20 km per hour while crossing the station. MoS for Railways Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said the train was moving "at a speed of around 80 kmph" at the time of the crossing of the station. |
