The Tamil Nadu Youth Congress launched a campaign in Erode on Tuesday to promote communal harmony and peace in the wake of Assam violence.State Youth Congress President M. Yuvaraja launched the campaign and distributed handbills at the Erode railway station urging the people not to trust the inflammatory content spread by the 'foreign hands'.Cadre asked the passengers bound for North India not to panic about the present situation and assured that the Central and State governments were taking all necessary steps to protect them.Students and families from North Eastern States of the country should not believe rumours of attacks being planned on them.These rumours were spread by foreign hands with the intention of disrupting the peaceful coexistence in the country.The government had already taken a number of steps to dispel the fears among the people from North Eastern states, cadre said. Mr. Yuvaraja said people from North Eastern States were safe in Tamil Nadu.
