MUMBAI: A day after American national Michelle Marks was attacked in a local train, state home department on Monday said that "crime on wheels" is the responsibility of the Railway Police Force (RPF) and not of the Government Railway Police (GRP). The incident has brought to the fore lack of coordination between the agencies. RPF is a security force under the railway ministry while GRP is a police organization under the state government. |

आरा : रोहतास जिले के बड्डी में स्वतंत्रता दिवस के दिन रविदास मूर्ति तोड़े जाने का विरोध कर रहे दलितों पर हमला किये जाने के खिलाफ सोमवार को आहूत शाहाबाद बंद का मिलाजुला असर देखा गया। इस दौरान बंद समर्थकों ने सड़क एवं रेल यातायात को निशाना बनाया। जिसके चलते रेल एवं सड़क परिचालन पर खासा प्रभाव पड़ा। माले कार्यकर्ता दोषियों को अविलंब सजा दिलाने एवं मुख्यमंत्री से इस्तीफा की मांग कर रहे थे। आरा में सुबह से ही माले कार्यकर्ता सड़क पर उतर आये थे। इस दौरान माले कार्यकर्ताओं ने सबसे पहले आरा-पटना राजमार्ग को बस स्टैड के पास जाम कर दिया। जिसके चलते राजमार्ग पर वाहनों का परिचालन ठप होने से महाजाम जैसी स्थिति उत्पन्न हो गयी। इस दौरान कार्यकर्ताओं ने स्थानीय रेलवे स्टेशन पर पटना-सासाराम पैसेंजर ट्रेन को रोकर घंटों विरोध प्रदर्शन किया। शहर में विरोध मार्च निकाला गया। यहां आंदोलन का नेतृत्व माले नेता सुदामा प्रसाद, दिलराज प्रीतम, क्यामुद्दीन, राजू यादव, अमित बंटी,गोपाल प्रसाद, बालमुकंद चौधरी एवं दीना प्रसाद आदि कार्यकर्ता कर रहे थे। जगदीशपुर में नयका टोला मोड़ को जाम किया गया। इसाढ़ी बाजार में बंद का नेतृत्व विशुन ठाकुर, किशुन ठाकुर,इन्दु देवी, उमेश यादव, श्रीभगवान यादव, कमलेश यादव तथा श्रीराम यादव कर रहे थे। तरारी प्रखंड में खुटहां एवं फतेहपुर को जाम किया गया। नेतृत्व कामता प्रसाद, कृष्णा गुप्ता, मदन जी, राम दयाल पंडित एवं जनेश्वर सिंह कर रहे थे। पीरो में चन्द्रदीप सिंह, रामानुज, विन्देश्वरी सिंह, गड़हनी में विनोद मिश्रा, मुमताज, रामायण यादव, छपित राम, अवधेश पासवान, सहार प्रखंड में रमेश, मदन, रामदतराम, लालजी, चरपोखरी में बुद्धराम पासवान, टेगर राम, कैलाश पाठक, संदेश में परशुराम, नीलम कुंवर, अगिआंव में मनोज मंजील, रघुवर पासवान, सतीश यादव, विमल यादव, शाहपुर प्रखंड में हरेन्द्र सिंह एवं कोईलवर में नंदजी प्रसाद आंदोलन की कमान संभाले हुए थे। |

NAGPUR: Even as many e-ticket passengers are waiting to get their refunds for trains cancelled during the Sindi railway tragedy, a couple of cases have come to light where the railways have shown passengers who did not undertake the journey as 'travelled', and denied them refunds for the tickets.While a case relates to June this year, another pertains to last year-end. Both the passengers are still fighting it out with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), which issues e-tickets. The problem arose after railways showed them as travelled when they actually had not.Jyoti Magarkar (57), a resident of Kalyan, was scheduled to go to Kalyan from Badnera on June 16. She had two tickets - one for 01014 Nagpur-Mumbai special and another for 12152 Howrah-LTT Samrasta Express. Magarkar said the Mumbai special train was scheduled to leave on June 16 from Nagpur at 4pm while Samrasta was scheduled for 5.50pm. Both her tickets were waitlisted. However, on June 16, the Mumbai special train was rescheduled for 9pm. Meanwhile, Magarkar's ticket for Samrasta got confirmed. |

PATNA: Railways suffered an estimated loss of over Rs 90 crore as a furious mob set ablaze 15 coaches, including an AC coach and locomotive of the Saharsa-Patna Rajyarani Express (12567) and five coaches and the locomotive of Samastipur-Saharsa passenger train at Dhamara Ghat on Saharsa-Mansi section under Samastipur division of East Central Railway (ECR) after 37 passengers were killed by the running train around 9am on Monday morning. Railways, however, put the death toll at 28. The railway communication system was totally paralysed as an irate mob also ransacked the railway station, cabin and tracks. It was difficult for railways to rush the rescue team to the site soon after the mishap, said ECR CPRO Amitbah Prabhakar. According to him, most of the officials, including railway doctors of the rescue team, were unable to reach the accident site because of lack of direct road link. He said the railways rescue team could reach the spot at 2.45pm only. |

Union Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge will apprise parliament about the killing of pilgrims by a speeding train in Bihar, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajeev Shukla said Monday.“We condole the death of pilgrims in Bihar. The railway minister is collecting more information and all necessary support is being provided for rescue operation,” said Shukla.Shukla said Kharge will make a statement as soon as he gets all the information.At least 35 Hindu pilgrims were killed Monday when the Rajya Rani Express train mowed them down while they were trying to cross the track at the Dhamara railway station in Khagaria district. |
